CENTREVILLE - With summer just around the corner, The Gunston School's 32-acre waterfront campus is gearing up to welcome children, ages 5 to 17, to its weekly camps, held June 17 to Aug. 16. Once again, full- and half-day programs are offered, as well as pre- and post-camp care. Summer programs include:
Summer Honors Academy:
Honors Geometry, Algebra I & II Prep
Ages 13 to 17 take a full semester of Honors Geometry in four weeks, and Algebra I or Algebra II Prep in August to get ready for the school year.
SAT Prep with The Princeton Review
Grades 10 to 12 receive the best individualized prep and instruction in test-taking strategies to achieve their best score.
SSAT Prep with The Princeton Review
For middle schoolers getting ready to take the Secondary School Aptitude Test.
Outdoor Activity Camps:
Summer Fun & Sports
Ages 5 to 12, grouped by age, play varied games, sports, arts & activities led by caring counselors on our fields, gym and waterfront.
Water, Wonder & Wetlands
Ages 6 to 14 do a hands-on exploration of the Corsica River adjacent to campus and learn their impact on the Bay.
Try Tennis, Beginner & Beginner Plus
Ages 6 to 14 have a blast learning fundamentals, rules and strategy.
Think Like a Fish
Ages 8 to 16 experience kayak fishing with local outdoor guru Chris Dollar.
Pulling Together Rowing
Ages 9 to 17 are invited to try this growing sport on Gunston's varsity equipment.
Ages 13 to 16 learn the ins and outs of being a camp counselor under the watchful eyes of senior counselors.
Fine and Visual Arts:
Messy Masterpieces, Puzzles & Patterns
Ages 6 to 12 explore their world through various media and techniques.
Gunston Players Theatre Camp
Ages 6 to 9 and 9 to 13 experience age-appropriate workshops on developing theater skills, including movement, presence, diction and more.
STEM Technology with LEGO:
Collision Cars, Gears & Gadgets, & Wacky Wheels
Ages 6 to 14, grouped by age, use special motorized Lego kits to solve challenges with principles of robotic engineering.
