CENTREVILLE Derrick Miliner, lay minister and author of "God's Grace is Sufficient From the Projects to the Pulpit," was the guest speaker at the Willing Women with a Purpose (WWWAP) on Saturday, June 18, at the Centre for the Arts building in Centreville.

The event was sponsored by Bethel A.M.E. Church, Centreville, and its pastor, the Rev. Terry A. Gaddy.

In his talk, Miliner shared some of his downfalls from abusing drugs, alcohol and womanizing at an early age. However, by the grace of God, he said, he was able to move from "the projects to the pulpit" to fulfill his destiny.

Those unable to attend the event can contact Miliner at dkmgsaaol.com or call 240-462-8918 to get a book. Proceeds of book sales go to a nonprofit organization.

The WWWAP thanked Miliner and his family for attending the event, as well as Jim and Hada Flowers for buying everyone a book, the Queen Anne's County Arts Council for the use of its building and all those who attended the event.

Bethel A.M.E. Church is hosting another program with Willing Women With a Purpose Saturday, July 16, at 9:30 a.m. at the Queen Anne's County Free Library, Centreville. The program is "Sin, Sex and Salvation," and will feature speaker Marchelle Ryans. Coordinator of this program are Pastor Gaddy and WWWAP vice-president Lorraine Jenkins.
