LAUREL, DEL. - Local Kart racer Trent Reed, 11, was recognized for his achievements in the 2012 season at U.S.-13 Kartway on March 9 at the Laurel Firehouse. Reed, of Denton, earned two titles in the Delaware Dirt Series championships sweeping both Junior One Lite and Heavy. He also won in the US Kart Club Series where he topped Junior One.
"I want to thank my Dad and Mike Bullis for all their help with the karts; the karts were great all season and Kevin Colborn's motors they were good all season too," Reed said. In addition to his three championships, Reed also ruled the season's money race series where he pocketed $2,000 for a single win. "I'll always remember that race".
Reed will now advance to Junior Two where he'll compete against racers who are older, larger and more experienced then Reed, but said he is ready for the challenge. That season starts with a practice day April 6. The first club race will be held April 12. Club racers compete again on April 19. On April 27, the first of a new money series called "Battle at the Beach" will kick off.
