CAMBRIDGE - During this year's New Year's Eve Party at Jimmie & Sook's Raw Bar and Grill, located at 527 Poplar St, a 50/50 Raffle will be held to benefit the Emergency Cold Weather Shelter in Cambridge.
With so many charities in need, choosing just one to benefit from the raffle was a difficult decision for owner Amanda Bramble, who in the end decided that keeping people within the community safe and warm would be the right choice.
The shelter operates from Dec. 1 through the end of March, at the Wesleyan Church Hall on the corner of Race and Washington Streets in Cambridge. The shelter is monitored by paid staff and provides three meals a day to guests. Last year over 1,773 bed-nights were offered to men, women and children.
Jimmie & Sook's will open at 5 p.m. for dinner, serving a limited menu and specialty items. Entertainment for the New Year's Eve Party begins at 9 p.m. when local favorites, Blackwater, take the stage. Admission is $5 per person, which includes entertainment, a champagne toast and party favors. 100 percent of the proceeds collected at the door will also be donated to the shelter.
