GRASONVILLE — On Aug. 21, the Chesapeake Moms Club made a $500 donation to the Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center, a nonprofit organization in Grasonville whose mission is to promote stewardship and sustainability through environmental education and habitat restoration. The Chesapeake Moms Club held its End-of-Year Banquet and silent auction at Fisherman’s Inn in Grasonville and donated the proceeds to CBEC.
“This is a natural partnership,” said CMC President Keely Marczyk “Over the years, as Moms Club members, we have had the opportunity to take advantage of the programs CBEC has to offer, including their Creepy Crawlers education program for kids, the wonderful trails and natural areas they maintain, and guided family kayak tours led by CMC Member and CBEC Conservation Manager Courtney Leigh. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to give something back to an organization that does so much for the area and for our children.”
CBEC President Judy Wink said, “We are very appreciative of CMC’s consideration and the funds. We operate on a very limited budget, and all funds are used most frugally in our operations.”
CMC said a number of local businesses and individuals made this donation possible, including Step 1 Dance 2 Academy, Treaty of Paris Restaurant, the Kent Island Farmers Market, Tiffany’s Time, Modatique, Mesochic, Chick-fil-A Chester, R’s Americantina, Carletto Pizza, Kent Manor Inn, Ram’s Head Shore House, Tara B. Designs, Cohen Chiropractic and the many CMC members who donated their time and talents.
