Fireworks planned July 4 on Kent Island were rescheduled for Saturday after local volunteer fire departments had to respond Tuesday night to four fires.
The fire marshal’s office said Tuesday night’s fireworks had to be postponed because the fire departments were spread too thin as a result of the blazes.
Queen Anne’s County Parks and Recreation Director Steve Davis said it was unfortunate the fireworks could not go off Tuesday night as planned.
The fireworks have been rescheduled for 9:25 p.m. Saturday in the area of the Kent Narrows Bridge. The grounds will open at 7:30 p.m. with children’s rides and several local food vendors.
