EASTON — A Cordova man and a Trappe man were arrested on charges of drug possession with the intent to distribute after police stopped their vehicle on Thursday, Dec. 19.
Police said an officer tried to stop a 2000 Mercedes Benz in the area of Dover Road and Teal Drive, and as the vehicle approached the officer, it abruptly turned into the parking lot of E.D. Supply Co.
As the officer approached the vehicle, he saw several people running away from it, according to police.
Police said the driver, Kevin M. Fields, 20, of 11850 Old Skipton Road, Cordova, and passenger, Clarence D. Brittingham, 18, of 433 Lovers Lane, Apt. 16, Trappe, were brought back to the vehicle.
Police said the officer smelled marijuana odor coming from the vehicle and from Brittingham, and during subsequent search of Brittingham, the officer found several bags of suspected marijuana.
The officer found a digital scale with suspected marijuana residue after a search of Fields, according to police.
Fields was charged with possession of paraphernalia, failing to obey a properly placed traffic control device and driving on a suspended license before being released on citations.
Brittingham was charged with possession of marijuana and possession with the intent to distribute marijuana before being released on his own recognizance.
