CAMBRIDGE - Police are looking for two men, one armed, who robbed Webster's Store on Race Street early Tuesday night before fleeing when the store owner shot at the gunman.

Police were called to the store at 810 Race St. at 6:24 p.m. Tuesday for a reported armed robbery.

The store owner, Mr. Webster, said he and a female customer were standing in front of the store when two African-American men approached them and forced them back into the store. One of the suspects displayed a handgun and pointed it at Mr. Webster and the customer.

Once inside the store, the suspects demanded money. Mr. Webster went to the cash register and retrieved cash and gave it to the armed suspect. The armed suspect requested more money at which time Mr. Webster then went to retrieve more money when he removed a handgun from the register and fired several rounds at the armed suspect. Both suspects fled the store with an undetermined amount of cash.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Cambridge Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division at 410-228-3333.
