John Wyman portrays a "uniformed" Maryland Militia line company soldier in the War of 1812. The uniform reflects basic compliance with the Jan. 7, 1812 Maryland Militia Act. Wyman said the law did not specify the type of hat or cut of the coat, but it called for all line companies to be dressed in blue coats with red colors and cuffs, and white pantaloons for summer or blue pantaloons for winter. This photograph was taken in October at Caulk's Field.
