DENTON — Dorothy Hattie Stevens Davis Messick joined her Heavenly Father on October 20, 2013 at 3:19 a.m. with her daughters at her bedside. She was 98. Dot was born May 31, 1915 near East New Market, Maryland. She was the second child of Riley Seth Davis and Hattie Stevens Davis. Dorothy graduated from Pennsgrove High School in 1933 and began working as a secretary for Dupont Chemical. She married Walter Perry Messick on June 6, 1940 and lived in New Jersey, Delaware, and Florida while Perry served in the U.S. Navy until the end of World War II. In 1946, she and her family moved back to Hurlock and later to Federalsburg. Dorothy helped her husband with the management of the Federalsburg Milling Company and after his death worked at Hess Apparel, Maryland Plastics, and Tri Gas and Oil. She retired in 1984 and moved to Salisbury where she was instrumental in the development of the Salisbury Church of God. In 1985 she moved to Elm Drive in Seaford, Delaware and was grateful to find her spiritual home at the Atlanta Road Alliance Church.
