We congratulate Dr. Stephen P. Carney, who was named a Hometown Hero by the American Cancer Society at a recent event at the Tidewater Inn at Easton.

Dr. Carney and Dr. John Mastandrea were the first two doctors to be in charge of radiation oncology at the Shore Regional Cancer Center in Easton when it opened on Idlewild Avenue in 1990. Dr. Carney, who was the center's first medical director, retired in 1998.
