CENTREVILLE — Even against an opponent lacking its star player, the Lions knew Monday night was no time to let up. Not with the schedule that awaits them.

Senior midfielder Zane Doyle had a first-half hat trick as Queen Anne’s County High’s boys’ soccer team stormed to a five-goal lead at intermission against depleted North Dorchester, slowed only by a stellar performance from Eagles goalkeeper Nate Ross in a 5-1 victory. The Lions improved to 8-0-1 overall, 5-0 in the North Bayside with division-determining clashes looming at county rival Kent Island (4-5, 4-1) on Wednesday and at talented co-leader Easton (8-1, 5-0) on Oct. 15.
