EASTON — A single vehicle accident on U.S. Route 50 near Trappe resulted in the death of the driver, Maryland State Police reported.
The accident, which happened about 8:19 a.m., claimed the life of Gavriel Mardechai Rosenbloom, 19, of Pikesville.
According to MSP Master Trooper Ian Rola, Rosenbloom was driving a gray Hyundai Sonata erratically on eastbound Route 50 at Beaver Dam Road south of Trappe when his car left the road and struck a tree in the median before coming to a stop on the eastbound shoulder.
A driver traveling behind Rosenbloom’s car witnessed the crash and notified police. He told police he saw the car weaving on the road and believed Rosenbloom may have passed out, according to Rola.
Rosenbloom was pronounced dead at the scene.
The eastbound lane of the highway was closed for about two hours. One lane of the westbound lane was closed as well.
In addition to the Maryland State Police, Talbot County Emergency Medical Services and Sheriff’s Office, and Trappe Volunteer Fire Company responded. An MSP Crash Team investigated.
