Homelessness at Christmas is enough upheaval for little kids.
But the joy of the holidays is contagious. With burdens even adults would find challenging, John in sixth grade, Sam in fifth grade and Sue in fourth grade are looking forward to the colorful lights and cheerful sounds — and Santa’s arrival.
The siblings’ mother is unemployed, but she’s looking for work and wants to make the holidays a happy time for all of them. She’s struggling to meet her children’s needs, which are complicated by their mental health diagnoses. All three attend weekly after-school mental health programs for additional support.
Mom would love to provide warmer clothing for her children, and a gift to the Brighter Christmas Fund would help make the holidays brighter for this family of four.
Tax-deductible donations, which also help other families in need on the Mid-Shore, may be sent to: The Brighter Christmas Fund, c/o The Star Democrat, P.O. Box 600, Easton, MD 21601.
