STEVENSVILLE — E & B Tire & Automotive, at 2020 Marion Quimby Drive in Stevensville, celebrated its 25th anniversary in business Wednesday, Jan. 29.

Owners Mark and Carol Edwards started the company and have maintained quality service the community. It is a full-service mechanical automotive facility (no body work).

The Queen Anne’s County Commissioners recognized the business during their Jan. 28 meeting with a resolution that read: “Queen Anne’s County values the significant contributions small family-owned businesses, such as E & B Automotive, make to the local economy and the significant impact to the community. The Board of County Commissioners wishes to recognize Mark and Carol Edwards for their commitment and contribution to Queen Anne’s County’s economy and to congratulate E&B Automotive on its 25th Anniversary.”

The Edwards started E & B Automotive in leased space at 121 Love Point Road, Stevensville, on Jan. 2, 1995. The business and the customer base expanded, and on Jan. 2, 2000, the Edwards celebrated the opening of a new, expanded facility on property they own at 2020 Marion Quimby Drive.

It was mentioned that, in 2017, the business was hit by a tornado, resulting in $500,000 in damages. Despite this setback, the Edwards kept the doors opened and solidified their commitment to doing business in Queen Anne’s County by rebuilding and resuming operations.

During the Jan. 29 celebration, a small buffet luncheon was catered by Mission BBQ of Annapolis. Representatives from the state and county attended. Maryland of Department of Commerce Senior Business Development Representative Nancy LaJoice presented a citation to the Edwards. Queen Anne’s Economic Development Manager Jean Fabi and Beth Malasky of the county’s Public Affairs Office delivered the proclamation from the county commissioners for the occasion. Heather Tinelli, county director of economic and tourism development, also was present. A citation commending the Edwards also was delivered from the office of U.S. Sen. Ben Cardin, D-Md.

The Edwards said they are looking forward to expanding the building in the next year and adding an additional employee.
