EASTON — Gordmans is making preparations for its grand opening in Easton at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 210 Marlboro Ave., where guests will have the opportunity to see big brands at low prices.
The apparel and home décor retailer’s festivities will kick off with ribbon cuttings, followed by a $1,000 donation presented to Easton High School.
Gordmans is part of the Stage community of stores creating a new shopping experience, including allowing customers to ship their Amazon orders to the in-store Amazon Counter for package pickup.
Gordmans also will open stores in Ocean City and Pocomoke City on Feb. 18 and donate a $1,000 check to a local high school.
“We are proud to be part of the Maryland communities, helping to sustain jobs, quality of life and economic growth,” Stage Stores President/CEO Michael Glazer said. “Just as exciting is our strategy in bringing the Gordmans shopping experience to almost all of our department store locations across the country during 2020 and positively impacting even more cities.”
Stage spokesman Blakeley Graham said the store has been and continues to operate as a Peebles department store. It will continue to sell merchandise until about eight days before the store converts.
“It will close a little over a week ahead of the Feb. 18 grand opening to convert to a Gordmans,” Graham said. “When Stage converts its department stores to Gordmans, current associates will convert to Gordmans associates. Additional associates were hired during job fairs, and positions vary by store, which include temporary, full- and part-time positions. The average Gordmans store has 20 to 30 employees, but it varies per store.”
As part of the festivities, Gordmans will offer giveaways and surprises, including:
• The first 100 guests in line at the grand opening will receive a Gordmans insulated tote bag and have an opportunity to win a $50 gift card or a scratch card revealing a text code for a $5 shopping card.
• Guests who enroll in the Style Circle Rewards program will enjoy payback rewards, a birthday gift and more. Peebles department store guests also can keep earning and redeeming Style Circle Rewards — they won’t lose any previously earned points or rewards.
• Guests who apply and are approved for a Gordmans credit card will receive 20% off their first day’s purchases. Also, guests will be able to use their current Peebles credit card at Gordmans.
Gordmans carries new finds that arrive each week, including favorite brands priced lower than department stores. The merchandise selection includes apparel and footwear for the family, home décor, accent furniture, wall décor, bedding and bath, kitchen gadgets, fashion jewelry, designer fragrances, toys and pet accessories.
“I have been watching on the internet and other places where Gordmans are at, and they are a successful model,” Talbot Chamber of Commerce President/CEO Al Silverstein said. “I think we are a major retail area on the Shore. We are a center of a business, and I think that that is going to make us a lot stronger.”
