EASTON — The Talbot County Board of Education has approved the appointment of Sarah E. Jones to the position of chief financial officer, effective Jan. 8.
Jones replaces Charles Connelly, who retired from the school district as of Dec. 31, 2019.
Jones earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Georgetown University and is a certified public accountant. Most recently, she worked as controller for Axis Geospatial Companies.
Her professional experience also includes serving as vice president of finance and administration for the Highland Group, as well as manager, business and advisory practice for Arthur Andersen.
“We are very excited to have someone with such a strong background join our senior leadership team,” said Talbot County School Superintendent Dr. Kelly Griffith. “Mrs. Jones’ extensive experience in financial management will be a terrific complement to our finance team as we strive to meet our ongoing funding challenges.”
Jones has served on the Avalon Foundation Finance Committee, is a past member of the Easton Rotary and was the treasurer of the Neavitt Civic Association. She live in Neavitt with her husband, Buck, and children, Hunter, Catherine and Will, all of whom have attended Talbot County Public Schools.
