WAWA, Pa. —  Convenience store chain Wawa is adding a burger to its menu at its 920 stores in Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida and Washington D.C.

The Wawa burger is the first in a number of new menu items planned this year that also includes french fries, according to the company.

The new angus burger is customizable and was first offered at new WAWA drive-thru locations in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.Wawa is also offering the new burger and other food items in stores, via food delivery services and curbside pickup after 4 p.m.

The chain has also launched a new “Burgers for a Year” contest on social media and via the company’s website. The contest started Monday, Feb. 15. and runs until Friday, Feb. 19.The company also offers prize packs and $25 gift cards through local radio stations and  a “I Burger Wawa” promotion.

“Wawa is excited to launch our new dinner platform in 2021 with the burger becoming the first dinner item to roll out across all stores,” said Mike Sherlock, Wawa’s chief product marketing officer. “Burger festivities are designed to give customers a taste of the new product and drive excitement for a new line of fresh, quality and convenient options at dinner time.”
