EASTON — Artist Aaron Taylor Kuffner, the Visionary Artist for the 2019 Academy Art Museum Craft Show, set for Oct. 11 to 13, recently installed his “Gamelatron: Body Phones” project in the museum’s front yard.

The sculpture combines Indonesian musical traditions with robotics and modernist sculpture. It will be on display through 2020.

Kuffner, an American-born conceptual artist based in New York, creates work that reaches far outside conventional forms of representation. His current display at the Academy Art Museum represents this year’s Academy Art Museum Craft Show theme, “Celebrating the Makers.”

Kuffner’s work is collected worldwide. His recent exhibitions include the Venice Biennale, Times Square, Burning Man and the Renwick Gallery in Washington, D.C.

Kuffner will present an artist talk at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, as part of the museum’s Kittredge-Wilson Lecture Series. To sign up for the talk, visit www.academyartmuseum.org.
