WYE MILLS — The Queen Anne’s Chorale will perform “Christmas in the New World” at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, in the Todd Performing Arts Center at Chesapeake College.
Selections will range from Colonial times to post-Civil War and will be accompanied by chamber orchestra.
“You will recognize old standards,” artistic director Robert Huntington said, “as well as music from the Moravian tradition and spirituals, along with our traditional audience singalong.”
As the first of two major performances in the Queen Anne’s Chorale’s season, the holiday concert will set the tone for those looking to get in the holiday spirit. Singers from throughout the region started practicing in early September. A select ensemble and soloists will provide extra music with the chamber orchestra.
A punch-and-cookie reception will follow the concert.
Tickets are $20 for adults, with children through high school admitted free. You also can purchase season tickets for $30. For more information, go to www.qachorale.org or call 443-262-8146.
Queen Anne’s Chorale is supported in part through grants from the United Way of Queen Anne’s County, Queen Anne’s County Centre for the Arts and Maryland State Arts Council.
