EASTON — Classic Albums Live will perform David Bowie’s 1972 record “The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars” in its entirety at 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at the Avalon Theatre.
The album tells the story of Bowie’s alter ego, Ziggy Stardust, an androgynous alien rock star who comes to Earth heralding the apocalypse.
It features classic songs such as “Starman,” “Ziggy Stardust” and “Suffragette City.”
The album peaked at No. 5 on the U.K. Albums Chart and No. 75 on the U.S. Billboard chart. It reached No. 21 on the Billboard 200 following Bowie’s death in 2016. As of January 2016, it had sold 7.5 million copies worldwide. Rolling Stone ranked it 35th on its list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.
Classic Albums Live performs classic rock ‘n’ roll albums note for note and cut for cut, just the way the album was produced in the first set and then comes back to perform more hits from the band in the second.
Tickets are $40 for Classic Albums Live and $25 for Schaefer. They are available at the Avalon box office (410-822-7299) or online at www.avalontheatre.com.
