EASTON — There’s a reason why Session Americana shows have a habit of selling out in the Avalon Theatre’s Stoltz Listening Room.
For one thing, this acclaimed Boston-based band is custom-made for such a cozy place.
It’s like you’re in the living room of good friends who happen to be talented musicians. On stage, they gather around a collapsible bar table wired with microphones, passing around an assortment of instruments in a freewheeling modern hootenanny.
The anything-could-happen feel of a Session show depends on craft that’s not accidental or easily won; the band members bring a kind of ease and genuineness to this music, sometimes presenting the latest batch of original songs, sometimes reaching back into depths of the American “song bag.”
For several years, it’s been a tradition for Session Americana to play two shows in the Stoltz on the weekend of the Waterfowl Festival. That will continue this year, with performances at 5 and 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, and a third show has been added at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8.
Tickets for the shows are $25 each, and available online at www.avalontheatre.com or by calling 410-822-7299.
