George Shoener of the Easton Elks Lodge No. 1622 presents a check to Jackie Vickers, executive director of the Dorchester County Commission on the Aging Inc., for $2,600 for the One Vet One Day Program. Pleasant Day Medical Adult Day Care uses One Vet One Day Program funds that pay for veterans to attend one extra day a week. The Veterans Administration will only approve a maximum of two days a week to attend medical adult day care. The other five days a week, the veteran, staying at home usually by himself, could cause all kinds of problems including depression. This extra day spread over a week may make the difference in the veteran’s outlook on life. For every $75 donated to Pleasant Day, the veteran can attend one extra day a week at no cost to the veteran. Pleasant Day Medical Adult Day Care is a private nonprofit 501(c)3, serving Dorchester, Talbot and Caroline counties. For more information on the One Vet One Day Program and/or Pleasant Day Medical Adult Day Care, call 410-228-0190 and ask for Erin Windsor or Jackie Vickers.
