EASTON — The Chesapeake Bay Girl Scouts from Talbot County recently got together for a community service event and some holiday cheer.

The girls gathered at the Easton Elks to assemble 50 shoeboxes of gifts for Operation Christmas Child, wrote holiday cards for the military and made handmade ornaments for a tree that can be seen at upcoming Festival of Trees.

In addition to service work, many of the girls participated in a cookie baking contest. First place went to Kylie Chadwick, second to Mckenna Brach and third to Olivia Wise.
