CAMBRIDGE — Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa and Marina, a waterfront resort located on Chesapeake Bay’s Eastern Shore, will host the 2019 “Santa Swim” on Dec. 14 to benefit the Care and Share Fund, a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to raising funds for individuals and families in need in Dorchester County.
Local community members and companies will make donations to take part in the annual event where they will take a swim in the chilly waters of the Choptank River.
“We are very excited to host the ‘Santa Swim’ in order to give back to our local community,” said Brianna Guzman, marketing manager at Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa and Marina.
“The event will not only provide an unforgettable and adrenaline-inducing holiday experience, but also a fun way for our guests and local residents to support such a great organization as the Care and Share Fund,” Guzman said.
Santa, Mrs. Claus and their North Pole helpers will be on site to pass out towels to each participant. Following the plunge, the resort will provide a “survivor’s celebration” with refreshments, including hot beverages, chili, and snacks prepared by the resort’s culinary team.
For those wanting to give back to the Care and Share Fund without braving the frigid waters of the Choptank River, the resort will also provide the “Hot Tub Club.” People who make a monetary donation to the organization will be able to enjoy one of the resort’s relaxing hot tubs throughout the event.
The “Santa Swim” will take place beginning at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, with on-site registration where each participant will receive a Santa hat. Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will lead the participants to the dock at 10 a.m.
