Knights of Columbus 5K raises funds for charity

The Knights of Columbus in Easton raised $1,700 for the St. Vincent de Paul Society’s outreach efforts.

EASTON — The weather was ideal for the Memorial Day Weekend 5K Run/Walk sponsored by the Knights of Columbus at the Rails to Trails near Idlewild Avenue.

Through entry fees, donations and corporate sponsors, the Knights were able to raise over $1,700 for the St. Vincent de Paul Society in Easton, one of the many organizations the Knights support.

Each of the 68 adult and youth entrants received a tee shirt, and the male and female winners in each age group were awarded medals.

Helping the Knights and their families at the event were volunteers from SVdP and the Sts. Peter & Paul High School cross country team.

The local chapter of SVdP works with the needy in Talbot County, feeding 535 people each week, including 200 children and provide financial support for over 2,000 people in Talbot County annually. The organization operates a thrift store and food pantry center at 29533 Canvasback Drive, Easton.
