We found two Talbot County residents born on Leap Day. Here’s what they have to say!

Name: Deanna Ewing-Evans

Leap Age: 9

What do you like about being born on a leap year?

I can stay young at heart to go along with my “baby face.”

What is the most interesting thing you’ve done to celebrate?

As a kid, I remember having some really great celebrations with friends. We would snowboard all day at Eldora Resort followed by dinner on the Pearl Street Mall in Boulder, CO — ending it with a fun sleepover. As an adult, I’ve been fortunate enough to celebrate in Islamorada, FL with my amazing husband, Michael Evans, my 3-year-old son and friends.

If you could trade in your birthday for another day, would you? Why?

NEVER!! I LOVE having this special day to call mine!! It’s a great topic of conversation when someone taking your information asks your date of birth and they say “you’re the first leap year person I’ve ever met.”

What is the most annoying part of having a leap year birthday?

My insurance company does not recognize it in their system. Other than that, Feb. 29 has been a great day for me.

Name: Ciera Plutschak

Leap Age: 7

What do you like about being born on a leap year?

It is different and unique.

What is the most interesting thing you’ve done to celebrate?

How I celebrate is to “act my age.” I have had a few princess parties.

If you could trade in your birthday for another day, would you? Why?

I would NOT trade my birthday for any other day! It’s nice to be different and to stand out. I enjoy being part of a select group of “leaplings.”

What is the most annoying part of having a leap year birthday?

When people don’t believe me or need proof of a photo ID.
