New mural now part of Kent Island Elks lodge

Local artist and Kent Island Elks member Jean Mayr of Chester, left, stands with the Elks Exalted Ruler Jim Cox in front of the mural she recently painted of the Bay Bridge inside Elks Lodge 2576 in Stevensville. Cox asked Mayr to paint a scene that represented an area leading to Kent Island and she volunteered her services. Mayr has a smaller framed picture of another local scene she has painted, fishing boats at Kent Narrows, hanging at the lodge. During the pandemic shutdown, many lodge members volunteered to make improvements inside and outside the lodge, and the mural was one of them.
