ST. MICHAELS — The Rotary Club of St. Michaels is sponsoring its classic Mustang sports car raffle. This is the club’s most significant fundraiser, which supports St. Michaels High School scholarships.
This past year, seven scholarships were awarded to seniors of the graduating class of 2019.
The convertible classic is a 1965 Ford Mustang 289 with a V-8 engine, automatic transmission and power steering. The original Caspian blue finish has a metallic sheen to give it a modern touch.
The raffle winner has the option to receive either the car or $20,000.
Tickets are $20 each or three for $50. No more than 6,000 tickets will be sold, though in past years the sales did not exceed 5,000. The raffle tickets will be available over the next several months from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at the corner of Talbot and Railroad streets where the car is on display. Alternatively, tickets can be purchased online at rotarystm.org or at the Rotary booth at the St. Michaels Saturday Farmer’s Market.
The drawing for the winning ticket will be held Thursday, Oct. 17, and the winner does not need to be present. The winner is responsible for state and federal taxes.
For more information, please contact the club representative at the car display. Other civic activities of the Rotary Club of St. Michaels include hosting the Fourth of July fireworks display; town trail maintenance; bicycle rack placements; and support of the YMCA, St. Michaels Community Center and Talbot Hospice.
