Talbot Optimist Club donates to CarePacks

From left, Amy Walstrum, with Talbot Optimist Club ,presents a check to Megan Cook and Emily Moody of CarePacks of Talbot County. The Talbot Optimist Club has provided $1,500 to CarePacks of Talbot County to assist in the mission of preventing hunger among Talbot County’s most economically vulnerable students. Now more than ever with school closures, club members recognize the importance of supporting CarePacks. The support is intended to assist with CarePacks’ goal of providing three meals and a snack a day for anyone between the ages of 2 and 18. Talbot Optimist Club, through its volunteers, has been working to make the future brighter by bringing out the best in the youth of the community. The club has been meeting the needs of Talbot County youth by “bringing out the best in kids” since 1996. During this time, it has donated more than $250,000, supporting local youth programs. Club members hope this donation will aid and encourage the continued development of Talbot County youth during this stressful time. The club shares in the belief that the giving of one’s self in service to others will advance the well-being of the community and the world.
