Eighty-eight firefighters from a dozen different fire departments battled a shed fire on Kittys Corner Road along with high winds around lunchtime Monday, Nov. 2, in Cordova. The fire went to two alarms. Firefighters drafted water from a nearby creek as there are no hydrants in the area. Cordova Fire Chief Nick Lange said it took about an hour and 15 minutes to get the fire under control. The high winds "made it a little bit of a struggle," he said. No injuries were reported. Responding fire departments included: Cordova, Queen Anne-Hillsboro, Easton, Oxford, Trappe, St. Michaels, Ridgely, Denton, Greensboro, Grasonville, Queenstown and Goodwill. Goldsboro sent a crew to standby at Cordova's fire house in case they got another call.
