CAMBRIDGE — Deputies from the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office on Monday, Sept. 16, arrested a Cambridge man while investigating a report of an assault and robbery.

According to a news release, deputies responded to 2911 Ram Road, where they found a woman who had been assaulted and had sustained facial injuries.

Police said she told the deputies 29-year-old Joshua Edward Jorette of Cambridge had started an argument with her, taken her phone and destroyed it, and then punched her in the face and head. After the beating, he tried to take her purse and car keys, police said.

The deputies found Jorette in the area and arrested him. He was charged with second-degree assault, malicious destruction of property under $1,000, attempted robbery and reckless endangerment. He was held without bond.

Police said the woman was taken to University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Dorchester, where she received stitches for her injuries.
