CAMBRIDGE — A Cambridge man has been charged with attempted murder following the stabbing of another man on Friday, Sept. 11.
Cambridge Police responded to Skinners Court shortly before 11 p.m. for a reported stabbing. When they arrived they found the victim, identified as Jermell Savage, who had deep lacerations to his neck, right shoulder and arm, and a large puncture wound to the left side of the chest, according to Capt. Justin Todd.
Savage was reported in stable condition Monday morning, Todd said.
While tending to Savage, police learned he had argued with 25-year-old Tahrique N. Hutchins. The argument turned physical when Hutchins grabbed a knife from his home and attacked Savage, police said.
Officers found Hutchins covered in blood near the scene, Todd said.
Hutchins was charged with attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree attempted murder, and first- and second-degree assault in addition to other related charges.
Police learned Hutchins also had allegedly assaulted a woman earlier in the day, injuring her face and eye. Hutchins was additionally charged with second-degree assault in that incident.
He is being held without bond at the Dorchester County Detention Center. A preliminary hearing in the case is set for Oct. 8 in Dorchester County District Court.
