STEVENSVILLE — The Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a report of counterfeit money at the Food Lion in Stevensville.

The store manager told police a Hispanic man tried to buy a $50 Red Lobster gift card with a fake $100 bill. Employees recognized the bill was counterfeit and did not complete the sale. The man left the store, leaving the bill behind.

The man is described as about 5 feet 5 inches tall with a neck tattoo, wearing a blue/red hoodie. He drove away in a black Dodge sedan with New York tags.

The counterfeit bill was recovered by deputies and placed into evidence, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 410-758-0770.
