CAMBRIDGE — The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of an inmate at the Dorchester County Detention Center.

Dorchester Sheriff Jimmy Phillips said emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the detention center about 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 10, for an inmate who was found unresponsive in his cell. The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation after the inmate was determined to be deceased.

The man’s body has been taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Baltimore for autopsy, and the investigation is continuing, said Phillips.

Phillips declined to provide any other information about the deceased.
