EASTON — Easton police on June 1 arrested an Easton man in connection with a reported hit-and-run traffic accident.
According to police, officers responded to the area of Dover and Washington streets, where a Chevrolet truck traveling the wrong way on the one-way segment of Dover Street hit another vehicle.
According to the owner of the other vehicle, the driver of the truck told them they would exchange information, police said. They took a photo of truck before it left the area without stopping, police said.
Officers found the truck and its driver a short time later, police said. The driver — Philip Shawn Murphy, 51, of Easton — was intoxicated and taken into custody, police said.
Murphy was too intoxicated to take field sobriety tests and refused the intoximeter test, police said.
He was charged with driving the wrong way on a one-way street, negligent driving, driving under the influence, driving while impaired, failure to remain at the scene of accident involving attended property damage and fail to yield right away on left turn. He was released on personal recognizance.
