EASTON — An Easton man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Dover Road early Wednesday morning, according to Maryland State Police.
The crash happened just before 12:30 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of June Way and Dover Road, near the entrance of the Waylands neighborhood. Maryland State Troopers from the Easton Barrack responded to the scene.
According to a preliminary investigation, a Ford Ranger left the roadway, then struck a curb and a telephone pole before overturning.
The driver, Geiver Romeo Perez Lopez, 26, of Easton, was the only occupant of the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A section of Dover Road was closed for over five hours while police investigation was underway.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Impaired driving does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
Approximately 500 Easton Utilities customers in the area of East Dover Road, Dutchmans Lane, Corbin Parkway and Beechwood Drive lost power overnight after the pole strike.
Power was restored to all but 50 customers by 8 a.m. Power was fully restored to the area by 10:45 a.m.
