FEDERALSBURG — Deputies from the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office on Oct. 3 arrested a Federalsburg woman on charges including assault and resisting arrest.
According to a news release, Dfc. M. Stivers was on patrol in the area of Academy and Park avenues in Federalsburg when he saw a woman he knew to be Jessica Michelle Newbury, 29, of Federalsburg, riding a bicycle. There possibly was an outstanding warrant for her arrest, police said.
Stivers approached Newbury, and she gave him a false name, police said. When the deputy told her he knew her name, Newbury fled on foot, police said.
Newbury later was caught under a wooden deck on Park Avenue, according to police. She gave Stivers resistance at first but eventually was apprehended, police said.
Newbury was charged with second-degree assault, resisting arrest, failing to obey a lawful order, making a false statement to a police officer and trespassing. She was released on $4,000 unsecured bond.
