TAYLORS ISLAND — State fire marshals on Sept. 8 investigated a vehicle fire they believe was started intentionally.

According to a news release from the Maryland State Fire Marshal, a passerby reported a 2016 Kia Sorento was on fire at 2:29 a.m. at the intersection of Taylors Island and Smithville roads.

Fire marshals said five firefighters from the Taylors Island Volunteer Fire Company responded and controlled the fire in 20 minutes. The fire, however, caused an estimated $25,000 in damages to the vehicle and $200 in damages to its contents, according to fire marshals.

Investigators believe the fire, which began in the interior passenger compartment, was set intentionally, fire marshals said.

Anyone with information should call the Salisbury Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal at 410-713-3780.
