CAMBRIDGE — Investigators from the Maryland State fire Marshal’s Office have ruled an Oct. 17 car fire as arson.

A 2018 Hyundai Alantra belonging to Zakiya Collins was destroyed in the blaze Saturday night on the 300 block of Crusader Road. A passer-by discovered the fire about 9:09 p.m. and called it in, the fire marshal’s office said.

Damages were estimated at $12,000 to the vehicle and $200 to its contents.

Rescue Fire Company responded with 10 firefighters. It took them about 15 minutes to control the fire.

The fire marshal’s office said the fire started in the passenger compartment and was intentionally set.
