EASTON — Easton police on Thursday, Sept. 19, made an arrest following a traffic accident in town.
According to a news release, Easton police officers, along with the Easton Volunteer Fire Department, responded at 8:39 p.m. to the area of North Harrison Street and Mill Place for a report of a motor vehicle collision with a vehicle overturned.
Police said a 2015 Ford F250 pickup truck was traveling south on Harrison Street and hit a parked, unoccupied 2007 Volvo owned by Cecil Backus of Easton. Police said the truck continued as it started to roll and hit a parked, unoccupied 2018 Mini Cooper owned by Erin Crouch of Easton. The truck came to a stop on its driver’s side.
Police said the driver, Ryan Arthur Prell, and a 10-year-old passenger were still inside the truck. Firefighters removed them, and neither had injuries, police said.
Prell had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, police said, and he refused to perform field sobriety tests.
Prell was arrested, and charged with failing to control his speed to avoid a collision, negligent driving, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while impaired by alcohol and driving while so far impaired that he could not drive safely. He was released after receiving the citations.
Police said all three vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
