CHOPTANK — A dispute over money led to a Friday night, Aug. 30, stabbing at Choptank Marina, according to the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office.
A 48-year-old man was stabbed in the torso at about 9 p.m. Friday, and was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he was listed in stable condition Saturday morning, police said.
The sheriff’s office said Vaughn Elvin Estwick, 40, of 722 Gay St., Denton, was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and use of an assault weapon.
Estwick is being held at the Caroline County Detention Center without bond.
Police said Estwick and the other man new each other. Both of their boats were docked at the Choptank Marina Friday. Police said Estwick confronted the man about money Estwick was owed, then he allegedly stabbed the man in the torso.
The sheriff’s office was unable to provide the name of the person who was stabbed or any additional information with the investigation ongoing.
