EASTON — Recent police traffic stops on Route 50 by the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office resulted in drug charges for one driver after deputies found cocaine allegedly hidden in a cigarette pack and a resisting arrest and marijuana charges for another man.
TCSO pulled over a vehicle driven by Demetrius B. Jones, Jr., 27 of Salisbury, for an alleged “moving violation” on April 10. The traffic stop occurred near Rabbit Hill Road.
A records search discovered an outstanding warrant in Wicomico County for drug possession and intent to distribute charges. TCSO officials say Jones “physically resisted and attempted to pull away from deputies” when they were trying to handcuff him.
Jones faces resisting arrest and marijuana charges, according to TCSO. A trial has been scheduled on the Talbot County charges for June 7.
In another traffic stop, deputies pulled for a vehicle operated by Narayana Chandra Rheiner, 39 of Brooklyn, Maryland, for an alleged “equipment violation” on April 20.
A police search of the vehicle resulted in cocaine allegedly being found in a cigarette pack. Rheiner was arrested and faces a drug possession charge. A trial in the case is schedule for June 2.
