EASTON — A police welfare check turned into an arrest on drug charges for a Delaware man on Saturday.
The Easton Police Department reports dispatching an officer to the 400 block of E. Dover Street for a welfare check on April 3.
The officer “made contact” with a man sitting in the driver’s seat of his car and “developed probable cause” to search the vehicle, according to police. The man has been identified as Zachary Scott Orr, 38 of New Castle, Delaware.
Police say the search discovered “a hypodermic syringe containing suspected heroin, multiple previously used hypodermic syringes, two glass, smoking devices; suspected crack pipes, and several wax folds containing suspected heroin residue.”
Easton Police also report there was an outstanding bench warrant in Pennsylvania for Orr. He was arrested on drug charges and is being held awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania,
