EASTON — Plans for a new dog park are progressing in Easton.
The Easton Town Council was briefed on the plans at its meeting on Monday, Oct 19.
The town’s Park Advisory Board recommends the dog park on the site of a town-owned parking lot at Brewers Lane near Washington Street.
“They look for funding in the amount of $200,000 coming from various sources including a request for future fiscal year dedication by the town of Easton,” said Town Manager Don Richardson.
Richardson said the plans also call for a 100 foot by 60 foot fence. The town is not being asked for immediate funding for the project.
The dog park plans need to go to Easton Planning Commission before coming back to the council for approval. The town council was just briefed on the plans at Monday’s meeting.
Al Bond, president and CEO of the Avalon Foundation, also updated the town council on plans for an outdoor music venue in a parking lot adjacent to the Talbot Town Shopping Center. The outdoor tent will allow for live music events to happen during the coronavirus and the need for social distancing. Bond said if the concept proves successful the Avalon Foundation could expand capacity of the outdoor venue. He said the venue could also host community events, school musical performances and other nonprofits.
