GRASONVILLE An acrobatics team that includes a Queen Anne's County woman advanced to the next round of "America's Got Talent" on NBC following its performance on Tuesday's show.
Catherine Neighbors, a 2008 Kent Island High School graduate, is a member of the University of Maryland's Gymkana Troupe, which made "America's Got Talent" with its YouTube performance. Neighbors is the daughter of Trina and Glenn Neighbors of Grasonville.
The squad was one of four acts to advance to the semifinals during Wednesday's results show.
According to its website, the Gymkana Troupe performs "men's and women's gymnastics apparatus routines, as well as novelty circus acts that incorporate the use of chairs, ladders and trampolines. Their performances showcase high-flying acrobatics and promote a message of healthy, drug-free living."
Each active member of the Gymkana Troupe is a current student of the University of Maryland. As a member of the Gymkana Troupe, each student-athlete has pledged to remain drug, alcohol, and tobacco free.
The next "America's Got Talent" airs Tuesday, Aug. 16, with performances by "wild card" acts. The next appearance by Gymkana Troupe has not been scheduled.
