CENTREVILLE — Men with handguns robbed a 7-Eleven store in Centreville early Monday morning, Oct. 20, according to Centreville Police.
Police said at about 2:30 a.m., two black men entered the store at 2601 Centreville Road, brandished handguns and demanded money. During the robbery, police said one of the men physically assaulted the clerk. They then fled the store with an unknown amount of money and other merchandise.
After the men fled, a Queen Anne's County sheriff's deputy saw a suspicious vehicle that he believed was involved in the incident on U.S. Route 50 west in the area of the 50/301 split, police said. The deputy pulled the vehicle over, but then the driver sped away, police said. After a high speed chase into Anne Arundel County, the suspects got away.
Maryland State Police and the Queen Anne's County Sheriff's Office are helping the Centreville Police Department with the investigation.
