The Talbot County Health Department reported eight new coronavirus cases on Friday, Oct. 16.

EASTON — Talbot County reported eight new coronavirus cases on Friday, Oct. 16. That comes after seven new cases were report by the county health department on Thursday, Oct. 15.

There are now 27 active COVID-19 cases in Talbot County and there have been 608 total cases of the virus since the pandemic began in March.

The positivity rate for COVID tests also rose locally to 2.42%, according to the county health agency.

The statewide positivity rate for COVID tests is at 3.09%, according to Friday’s report from the Maryland Department of Health.

The state health department also reported four new COVID deaths on Oct. 16. That brings the statewide total to 3,887 since the pandemic started. There have been nine coronavirus fatalities in Talbot County.

Statewide there were 781 new cases of the virus reported Friday bringing the total to 134,329.

There are currently 416 Marylanders hospitalized for the virus with our new hospitalizations reported on Friday.
