DNR police honor retired sergeant in Talbot County

ST. MICHAELS — A retired Maryland Natural Resources Police sergeant was laid to rest Saturday, June 20, after being honored for his service in a procession that stretched from St. Michaels to Neavitt, where he resided.

Ret. Sgt. Joseph “Joe” Jones served in the United States Marines, was a commercial waterman, and worked with Maryland’s NRP force in Talbot County for more than 20 years. Jones died Tuesday, June 9. He retired in 1991.

Department of Natural Resources Secretary Jeannie Haddaway-Riccio, Col. Adrian Baker and NRP officers participated in a celebration of life for Jones.

The Jones family was also presented with a Memorial Citation from Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan in honor of his services to the State of Maryland.
