71st annual Cambridge-Dorchester County Christmas Parade set for Dec. 7
CAMBRIDGE — The Cambridge-Dorchester County Christmas Parade is celebrating its 71st year with the theme of “Christmas Past & Present.”
Parade Chairman Bruce McWilliams is asking for help to make the event in downtown Cambridge possible.
“While we have received tremendous support,” he said, “our work is not quite done, and we still need your help. We are lagging behind in donations from last year. Expenses do not go down, they simply increase.”
The 71st annual Cambridge-Dorchester County Christmas Parade will grace High, Poplar and Race streets, down to Washington Street starting at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, with pre-parade festivities at 4 p.m. at the reviewing stand at Craig’s Drugstore.
This year, the Chorus of Dorchester will be the featured entertainment highlight.
“We are frantically turning over every fallen leaf to find donors and support for this year’s event,” McWilliams said. “The parade is funded solely through community/public donations — 100% donor funded and 100% volunteer run. Without donors, there is no event.”
Financial donations are being sought to help maintain the existence of this long-standing tradition. CDCCP is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and donations are tax deductible.
The parade committee also is seeking entries in the parade. It is looking for floats of all types, sizes and creativity. Enter online via the CDCCP at webpage www.christ masparade.org, or direct questions to Bruce McWilliams 443-521-1671 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Donations can be mailed to CDCCP Treasurer, P.O. Box 1083 Cambridge, Maryland 21613.
